There’s another simulated universe out there among the bubble-verses wherein PT was fully fleshed-out (ew) and we all played it and it was an amazing experience. 🤔😓
The Clock tower series. The remaster on ps1 was terrifying for the time, but CT3 on Ps2 takes the cake. I really can't understand why the series has been dormant since then.
I just can't play five nights at Freddy's i might do do in my pants when I finish the game i had nightmares seriously right after the game series was done but I did it (though) / (never again) i was crying in my bed right after it was so bad 😭
Played outlast and re7 alone. Re7 wasn't overly scary imo. But outlast made me sick to my stomach with fear that I had to play another game just to take my mind of it. My cousin watched me for a bit when I played it again. He came in at the part where I was down in the sewers and bailed when I got to trager.
I still remember the relief, the utter rush and sigh, when I finally got the key and got into the hatch in RE7. Very stressful game. Outlast … I can't handle. Especially having to hoard batteries.
I played Fatal Frame alone at night until 3 am and I'm totally fine, meanwhile I will never touch FNAF or Outlast unless my life depends on it. Horror games without any weapon to fight are the most terrifying for me, at least in Fatal Frame you still have a camera to fight.
I was 14-years old, when PSX first came out & thus…the original Resident Evil & Tomb Raider. The former game being a given. Some people forget..:the first couple Tomb Raider games were borderline horror games. Just the way they were setup. I’ll never forget my lifelong best friend & I playing Tomb Raider at 3 am, on a Saturday night, in my bedroom. We were on one of the Dino stages (I believe the main one, with the massive T-Rex fight in the underground jungle…which just felt spooky, as HELL! The whole SERIES did, for the tiers two games. Everything was in dark caverns & [AHEM!] TOMBS (imagine That!) – which, NOW I know was all just circumstance due to the technology. They had to figure out ways to keep backgrounds down for processing power & data space. But, it was a “Happy Accident”, as they say. It worked! Well, it as my boy’s turn. He was running down a tomb corridor…one of those that was only one Tomb Raider texture block high & one black wide (you know what I’m talking about, in the old TR games, with the texture block sizes. Lol! The game was based on them like a chess board almost. It became a grid system, for us players, really. Lol!)… Halfway down this hallway-like path, it made a 1-block sized S-turn – so, a quick 1-block turn to the left, then an immediate turn to the right, to continue the way you were already going, just 1 block over to the left from where you originally were now. Like this: ———> | ——— Well, coming from the opposite direction, from the second half of the corridor (so, after you’ve made the turn), one of the infamous red raptors was barreling down, on my boy. I already knew it was there. I had played the stage before. Just hadn’t beaten it yet. It was the stage I was on, when we started playing. I was JUST about to tell him, when he paused the game…RIGHT before the first Left of that S-Turn. Well, the Raptor had ALSO made it to the same point, on ITS side. For a brief nanosecond, the angle was setup to where you could see the Raptor on the other side of both turns. I saw it. APPARENTLY, he did NOT. I THOUGHT he paused it right then bc he had seen it, & just needed to prepare himself. The original three Tomb Raiders were pretty fucking INTENSE, especially for their day. Even Resident Evil wasn’t like them, bc you couldn’t run, jump, or really do a whole lot of moving at ALL in the RE game (again, this is when the original games, or both franchises, we’re still fresh & new. The PSX & N64 THEMSELVES were still fresh & new! We had never SEEN anything like these new 3D games. To US, it was the equivalent of when Open World games first started to become a thing. The leaps these two games took gaming was IMMENSE! If you weren’t there for it, ya really don’t know. They were groundbreaking & changed ALL of GAMING….FOREVER! We also had no IDEA they’d both become MASSIVE Franchises. Tomb Raider had more of a hiccup, to where it almost gave up. I mean, Resident Evil had some bad missteps, TOO! Capcom was just able to weather those storms more due to how big they already were, AND…I really don’t think they have a fuck. They were tredging forward REGARDLESS! Lol! Anyway…) My boy went and got a Mt Dew & some chips or something. Maybe even a sandwich…idk. (He was his own “Midnight Woman” at 14-years old, & had to go to the kitchen HIMSELF & make his OWN damn Sammich! Take a joke, people!)…. He came back, settled in his seat, got the original PSX controller comfortable in his hands (no sticks mind you. That didn’t come till a couple years later. So, no “Rumble Pack” (as Nintendo called them, since you had to purchase them separately& plug them into one of your Controller Memory Card slots…which was ODD, in-&-of ITSELF), either. Hell! L2 & R2 were also the same size & shape as L1 & R1. They didn’t have the larger curved butt at a back angle yet. So, they could be more difficult to hit. That’s why I got used to only ONE finger on the top of my controller…not two)
So….back to it (sorry, for the side stories & tangents here)…he gets all settled it, and BOOM! He hits “Start” & unpaused the game. Now, I also Forgot to mention…the Raptors on that game…they made thumping sounds, on the ground, for their footsteps, that got louder as they got closer. This WAS a “thing”, at that time. So, before he Paused it, not ONLY did I momentarily (even if just a NANOsecond) SAW the Raptor, I also HEARD it coming….BEFORE I saw it. So, although he hadn’t played this stage yet (and he owned the game himself. We just worked together to beat it), I FIGURED he just knew something was coming.
He didn’t. He didn’t, at ALL. He hit Start & immediately took two steps forward & turned to his Left on that S-Turn. Guess who ELSE made it to that EXACT same spot, at the EXACT same TIME…! YUP! As SOON as he turned, there was a Raptor already mid-attack, with its mouth half-open & half-leaping forward. All in ONE motion, that took about 1/3rd of a SECOND…My boy SCREAMED like a little SCHOOL GIRL, was able to hit Start to PAUSE it again, AS he THREW the controller into my TV nearly shattering both. Scared the BEJESUS out of him!!!
This is just an example. The original Tomb Raider games would put you on the edge of your SEAT, sweating your BALLS off, white-knuckling the controller, throughout the entire game. You never knew WHAT was going to pop in. Even if it was a SLOW part of the game…it was still dark, and spooky…it was ominous & full of mystery/mystique. People don’t give Tomb Raider enough CREDIT, for it HELPING to not only revolutionize gaming itself, but ALSO to help START/KICK-OFF the Horror Game Genre. It really did. Maybe you just had to be there, when the first Tomb Raider came out, to understand that. Uncharted it was NOT
Good LORD!! Even with watching this on my phone, with the Brightness all the way UP…Alien: Isolation is dark, as FUCK! I can’t see SHIT, but those blue vents, & other green lights …and those TowerLink signs. Lol! I get it…it’s SUPPOSED to be. That’s why you have a FLASHLIGHT, to find your way. I’m just saying they did a great job of creating that feeling
The fact that 5NAF is ranked above Outlast makes this whole list a joke to me. I usually agree with your rankings on videos. But it's clear you didn't play all of Outlast. And Amnesia was just a bonus pick? Half of this list isn't even semi scary. But Amnesia is an afterthought for you?
